Joint Test and EvaluationThe Joint Test and Evaluation (JT&E) Program

We bring two or more military services or other components together to:

  • Assess Service interoperability in joint operations, and explore potential solutions to identified problems
  • Evaluate joint technical and operational concepts, and recommend improvements
  • Validate operational testing methodologies that have joint applications
  • Improve modeling and simulation validity with field exercise data
  • Increase joint mission capability using quantitative data for analysis
  • Provide feedback to the acquisition and joint operations communities
  • Improve joint tactics, techniques, and procedures

Joint Test and Evaluation
The DOD's JT&E Program originated in response to the 1970 Blue Ribbon Defense Panel Report, which concluded that:

"There has been, and is currently, no effective means for conducting productive joint operations tests and evaluations. The fact that some such efforts heretofore have encountered difficulties and achieved few useful results does not obviate the requirements for much needed joint operational test and
evaluation (OT&E)."

JT&E Headlines

Nominations for new Joint Test (JT) projects are due twice each fiscal year.

Nominations for normal Quick Reaction Test (QRT) projects are due three times each fiscal year; the first one is due at the beginning of May.

The JT&E Newsletter (CAC restricted)
 is now online.

Nominators will submit a nomination package to JPO through the appropriate Service, CCMD, Joint Staff, or DOT&E channels. Submit nomination packages to: Chief of Staff
